Making of Largest Billboard made using LEGO Bricks
My journey of attempting to create a record using my love for LEGO Bricks and succeeding! The project was commissioned by Hyundai India.

How it started

A call from Hyundai team led to beginning of multiple ideas that could be executed at scale. Over the next few weeks and couple of presentations later, we finally arrived at the big idea.
But the question was, how will I make this happen in a country where sourcing the Lego bricks is a difficult job?
The Designing Journey
To design the entire layout, I used multiple softwares that took hours to render the final output. Reason? Because the image size was running into 100s of MBs.

For the final layout, none of my computer machines worked. That's when I had to hire a virtual super-computer on rent and it took 4 hours.

John Seemon was my partner-in-crime in making the piece by piece illustrations happen.

The Sourcing Journey
What looked easy was the most difficult part of the journey.
Placing an order of 3 Lac+ Lego Bricks meant contacting the Lego Denmark factory and tens of excel sheet exchange with hundreds of minute part details.
Finally the Lego India team stepped in to expedite the process and over 200 KGs of bricks landed at the workshop, just 7 days before the installation day.
How did we end up carrying so many bricks in flight? Another story.
Putting it all together
20+ volunteers came together at Sunday Bricks office to begin assembling the hoarding piece by piece.
5 Days later, we had 240 plates, all done and dusted.
Mrunal Shah & his team were the generous people who hosted us and made it the fun 5 days.

The Final Icing!
The installation day was the most demanding one, with almost 16 hours in dehydrating sun, and climbing 25 feet using trusses to assemble the Lego Billboard.

Finally at the end of day, it was an end to one of the most satisfying projects.

The billboard entered the Asia Book of Records & India Book of Records in August 2023 for Largest Billboard made using 3 Lac+ Lego Bricks.
